Stronger nails, without acrylics
Builder gel, also known as BIAB (builder in a bottle), adds a flexible, strengthening layer over your natural nails. It helps weak, thin or peeling nails grow longer without the bulk of acrylics. Wear it clear for a natural finish, or as a base under Solid Gel colour.
How to apply builder gel at home
- Push back the cuticles and lightly buff the shine off the nail.
- Brush on a thin layer of builder gel and cure under the LED lamp.
- Add a second layer to build strength through the centre of the nail, then cure.
- Finish with top coat and cure for a lasting shine.

What is builder gel used for?
Builder gel strengthens weak, brittle or peeling natural nails, and can add a little length. It is often used after acrylics while the natural nail grows back.
Is builder gel good for weak nails?
Yes. The flexible layer protects the nail from bending and breaking, so it can grow out with less splitting.
Does builder gel damage nails?
Not when it is applied and removed with care. Damage usually comes from peeling the gel off or filing too hard. Soak it off rather than lifting it.
How long does builder gel last?
2 to 3 weeks with good prep and a top coat. You can also file it back and add a fresh layer as your nails grow.
Do I need a nail lamp?
Yes. Builder gel cures under a UV or LED lamp. Both Builder Gel kits include one.
How do I remove builder gel?
File down most of the top layer, then soak with acetone and foil wraps for about 15 minutes. See our removal guide.
